Vintage Stakes Tip: Positive

Least experienced horse in the field but mightily impressive on debut. Quickened off a strong pace like a good horse, covering the final 3.25 furlongs 0.94s faster than anything else.

Positive is the least experienced horse in the Vintage Stakes and although that might count against him, he also has the most improvement left in him. What he achieved on debut is comparable with the rest of the field and Clive Cox knows what it takes to win this race, having won it in 2009 with Xtension.

What I really like about Positive is that manner of his victory at Salsibury. He track a strong gallop and was able to quicken away from the field at the finish. His closing sectional was the fastest in the race by 0.94s and it was the sort of performance only a good horse is capable of.

The time of the race was also good and after the race Clive Cox described the colt as a “very nice youngster and as good as we have had”. There are plenty of positives to take.
