Ten To Follow: Jumps Racing 2013/14

There is a big pot up for grabs in the Tote Ten To Follow competition. Our racing pundit discusses his selections. Deadline for entries: Midday Friday 15 Nov.

How To Play

To compete in the Ten to Follow competition select 10 horses from a list of 400. Points are awarded according to the number and value of races won by each horse in your stable. There are also a number of bonus races throughout the season. A full explanation of the rules is available here.

Last year’s dividend payout was £250,000 to the overall winner.

The competition runs from Friday 15 November 2013 to Saturday 5 April 2014.

To Enter the Ten To Follow competition you need a betting account with Totesport .

Closing date for entries is midday on 15 November 2013.

Betting Bias Ten To Follow Selections

1. Sprinter Sacre
Unbeatable and will pick up a bonus if winning the Champion Chase.

2. Hurricane Fly
Twice a winner of the Champion Hurdle and should go close again. At worst he should pick up an Irish Champion Hurdle (won last 3 renewals) which is also a bonus race.

3. Cue Card
Not put off by defeat in the Haldon Cup when carrying plenty of weight. Has strong chance in the Ryanair and I still think a King George on reasonable ground will suit him.

4. Sir Des Champs
Won last year’s Irish Hennessy (not always the strongest Grade 1) and expect it’s on his agenda again. If he wins that, anything he does in the Gold Cup can be considered a bonus.

5. Al Ferof
Last season was ruined by injury but don’t forget he was a fine winner of last season’s PaddyPower. Could be Paul Nicholls’ best staying chaser and will be aimed at all the top races. Potential King George and Gold Cup horse.

6. Katenko
Has a great chance of picking up a bonus by winning the Hennessy at Newbury and then anything is possible. Won at Cheltenham last season and a dark horse for the Gold Cup.

7. The New One
Slammed Rock On Ruby on his seasonal return and looks a terrific prospect. All the big races are on the agenda with the International Hurdle, Champion Hurdle and World Hurdle all possibilities.

8. Monksland
The World Hurdle looks wide open and even if Big Buck’s makes a winning return we won’t earn many other points from him. For that reason Monksland is a better bet. Even if he isn’t good enough to win the big one at Cheltenham he should enjoy plenty of Graded success in Ireland.

9. Defy Logic
Might be 16/1 for the Arkle but there aren’t many obvious contenders for the race. He was a classy hurdler and looks a natural over fences winning his first chase start by 19 lengths.

10. Don Cossack
Hedging my bets in that he could go for either the Arkle or RSA Chase. Another classy hurdler, he won his first chase start by 20 lengths. Ran over 2m6f in heavy ground so RSA looks more likely given his stamina.
