Temple Stakes Tips: Washington DC

Temple Stakes Tips: Washington DC

Has run two huge speed figures this season and a strongly run 5f on fast ground is ideal.

Aidan O’Brien isn’t famed for having top-class (older) sprinters but he’s got one in the shape of Washington DC. He is yet to win above Listen company but the Group 2 Temple Stakes is there for the taking.

To be at his best Washington DC needs a strongly run 5f on fast ground. His record at the minimum trip with the going described good or quicker is 1120212; his only bad run the inexplicably poor performance in the Nunthorpe.

Washington DC started the season with a win and a big speed figure at Navan and followed it up with an even bigger run behind Marsha in the Palace House Stakes.

He was slightly unfortunate that he ran out of horses to race against, whilst Marsha scooted up the nearside rail. There wasn’t much between them, with Washington DC running the fractionally quicker closing sectional for an adjusted speed rating of 108.

If the forecast thundery showers don’t emerge, conditions should be perfect for the Irish raider, with Take Cover likely to take them along at a good clip from stall 5.
