Stewards' Cup: Wedding Date

Best of those drawn in single figures at Ascot and sharp 6f on fast ground, with strong pace looks ideal for her running style. Well handicapped but has she got the class to take a big sprint?

Nahaarr is your classic Group horse in a handicap and it would be no surprise if he won fairly easily judged on the big speed figure he clocked at Newbury. However, in a big field things can go wrong and i’m rolling the dice with Wedding Date at a more appealing price. Allocated 8-4 with Theodore Ladd taking off another 3lbs she’s barely got any weight on her back and she will relish conditions.

A winner at both five and six furlongs, she is at her best closing off a strong pace on a sharp track and if she handles the undulations (has won at Newmarket) then this could be the perfect race for her.

She’s not had much luck the last three starts. She was hampered by the winner at Windsor, left with too much to do at Newmarket and then drawn on the wrong side at Ascot. On her last run she was the highest finisher of those drawn in single digits, ‘winning her race’ by 1.5 lengths.

She is a bit short on speed figures and perhaps hasn’t the class to win a handicap of this calibre but i’m happy to find out because everything else is in her favour.
