Southwell: Landing Night
Course and distance record is 1184 and only beaten a neck on last visit despite being drawn away from the action. A potential course specialist who arrives in good form.
Landing Night has run three times on the all-weather this winter and has performed with credit on each occasion. The bare form reads 457 but he’s never been beaten more than 2.75 lengths.
His best performance came over course and distance in November and his record at Southwell now reads 1184. That most recent defeat was only by a neck and deserves and upgrade.
Landing Night was drawn away from the action in stall 1 and had to make much of his own running. The first three home were drawn 12-13-9 and had something to race against; namely each other.
The Fibresand brings out the best in Landing Night and Clifford Lee is an interesting jockey booking given his strike rate at the course is 18% (6-34) and he shows a level stakes profit (£12.25) for his rides.
