Sedgefield Racing Tips: Jim Tango

Previously campaigned as a two-miler but his best speed figures have come over further. Stepped up in trip he should improve on his recent efforts.

If is not often Donald McCain gets things wrong but I think he raced Jim Tango over the wrong trip. Having his first run for Brian Storey it is no surprise that his new trainer immediately steps him up in trip for the 2.30 at Sedgefield.

Having been predominantly campaigned over two miles, today he races over 2m4f. The last time he raced over an equivalent trip was back in April 2010, where he found a class three novice chase too hot to handle. Down in grade, this race should be easier.

Previously he bagged a maiden chase over 2m3f at Catterick and won that going away. That day he earned his highest Topspeed rating, suggesting 2m4f in moderate company was ideal for him. It has been a long wait but he should relish today’s conditions.
