Salisbury Tips: Good Authority

Winner last time out and the three who chased him home have all won since.

Big sprint handicaps are few and far between at Salisbury (4.10) but when one comes along they can offer some rich pickings.

Racing against the far side rail is a big advantage at the track, with stall one winning three times as often as it should in 6f races. Camache Queen made the most of stall 1 last season, by winning this race at a decent price. A year on and we have an almost identical situation.

Like last year’s winner, Good Authority has shown his best form at 7f, but he travels so strongly in his races the drop in trip shouldn’t inconvenience him. The stiff finish at Salisbury should also play to his strengths.

On his last start, he won a hot Leicester handicap and the form has been franked since. The three horses who chased him home, all won on their next start, suggesting it was a strong race for the grade. At 12/1 (Bet365) he is massively overpriced considering the draw is in his favour.
