Albany Stakes: Eve Lodge

Unlucky when denied clear run on debut at Ascot. Built on promise with easy win at Lingfield (in a good time) and this strong traveller should enjoy good gallop generated by a large field.

Eve Lodge didn’t make it to the Queen Mary but the tactic of holding her back for softer ground might pay off. She first hinted at her potential when a close third at Ascot over course and distance. Held-up in rear, behind a steady pace, she didn’t get a clear run and shaped better than the bare form.

She built on that promise with an easy win at Lingfield, again in a good time but this time Jamie Spencer barely had to move a muscle to easy her to victory. Yet to be tested on quick ground, there is no reason this smooth travelling filly wouldn’t handle it and the strong pace generated by a large field plays to her strengths.
