King’s Stand Tip: Prohibit

Well drawn and placed in his last two runs at Group level, he could finally get his nose in front.

The 3.05 King’s Stand Stakes is a weak looking sprint and could go to a relative outsider. Many of these horses contested the Temple Stakes at Haydock and that is the strongest looking form. I am sticking with the selection I put up that day – Prohibit.

With the likes of Overdose, Holiday For Kitten and Star Witness all drawn high, the pace is likely to be concentrated towards the stand’s side. Drawn in stall two and with question marks over the easier going, Temple winner Sole Power looks vulnerable.

Prohibit finished a length behind Sole Power at Haydock and drawn in stall 14 next to the pace, he can turn around the form. Nine days ago he finished second at Chantilly in a Group Two sprint and was a shade unlucky. The third placed horse Inxile has since gone on to win, so the form looks solid.

Adaptable when it comes to going, Prohibit also has winning form at Ascot. The strong pace should play to his strengths and in a wide open race he looks good value at 16/1.
