King’s Stand Tip: Mar Adentro

Third in the Abbaye last year, the strong pace should suit his style of racing. Overpriced.

In the 3.05 King’s Stand I suggest a small saver on Mar Adentro as based on the Prohibit form line he has a strong chance.

Previously a middle distance runner, the horse was a revelation after the drop back to sprinting last season. His record over five furlongs reads: 133955. The best of these was a third place in last year’s Prix De L’Abbaye. Considering he is a hold up performer and was drawn wide in stall 18 it was an excellent run.

His form this year has been good. Last time out at Chantilly he finished fifth, 1.5 lengths behind Prohibit.  His hold up style should be better suited to the stiff track at Ascot, something he rarely faces in France, and he could run a big race at 66/1.
