King's Stand Stakes: Rocket Action
Robert Cowell has won this race twice in last ten years and could pounce if Battaash under-performs. Impressive at Wolverhampton running big speed ratings with rapid closing sectionals.
The King’s Stand Stakes revolves around Battaash and i’d happily watch him win again. The 6-year-old is the class act in the field but you are taking 4/5 about a horse with a 50% strike rate; there is a valid case to be made considering this isn’t the strongest renewal but if Battaash is off-colour I want to capitalise at a big price.
Robert Cowell has experience of winning this race and Rocket Action could surprise a few at a big price. He was superb at Wolverhampton in early November, running the fastest closing sectional by 0.93s and travelling really strongly despite the generous gallop. An already good speed rating gets a good upgrade and although he was less convincing when beating Corinthia Knight he was always doing enough.
He’s got a slightly high head carriage but is perfectly genuine and has a fair bit of ability. Outside of the favourite he’s got as good a chance as the rest.
