Coventry Stakes: Gisburn

Market dominated by American runner but that creates value elsewhere. Gisburn quickened off solid gallop to win by 6.5 lengths in a good time; fastest closer by 0.8s and visually impressive.

The Wesley Ward raiders deserve respect but i’m not sure Kaufymaker is going to love 6f on a stiff track having won at 4.5f on dirt. The market is defensive regarding the American horse and we can therefor get a price on the extremely impressive Gisburn.

He destroyed a maiden field at Newbury winning by 6.5 lengths but it could have been twice as much, that’s how easy everything looked. The pace was sound and to travel that easy takes a very good horse. The clock confirms the visual impression, giving him a speed rating of 90 with the fastest sectional of the race by 0.8s. He’s capable of even more and should run a big race.
