Coronation Stakes Tips: Purr Along

Has excellent 2-year-old form; beaten a head by former Guineas favourite Certify.

At the start of the season, unbeaten filly Certify was favourite for the 1000 Guineas. We’ve not seen her race this year because she was caught up in Mahmood Al Zarooni’s doping scandal but it’s fair to assume she’s pretty smart, she was Europe’s top rated 2-year-old filly.

The only horse to give her a proper race last season was Purr Along, she was beaten a head in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster and is a surprisingly big price to win the Coronation Stakes (3.45 Ascot) if you take the form literally.

Her big price is largely because she flopped in the Prix Marcel Boussac but she had excuses that day. The ground was heavy and she was also very badly in season which could have contributed to her below par effort.

It’s not hard to forgive Purr Along one bad effort and with BetVictor refunding our losses if Richard Hughes finishes in the top three on Sky Lantern we have an excellent bet at 33/1 (BetVictor).
