Ascot Tip: Swindler

Lightly raced with huge potential and 2/2 at the track. Ran well on reappearance, clocking a good speed rating but without getting the breaks. Going and draw are worries but profile fits the bill.

Like most punters I have a love/hate relationship with draw biases. They can be an excellent source of winners, when recognising one in past races, but betting into one can be fraught with difficulty.

The going stick suggests the far side is fractionally quicker than the nearside but jockeys have been favouring the stand’s side this week. That can all change and I’m willing to look silly backing Swindler in Stall 2.

His trainer has long-targeted the Wokingham, however he just missed the cut and has to make do with the consolation race. He is 2/2 at the track and travelled strongly, without the clearest of runs on his reappearance at Newmarket. That was a decent race, run in a good time.

He is lightly raced and although unproven on the ground, we are forecast a dry night. He looks ahead of his mark and the type to win this race.
