Racing Is Back

The familiarity of horse racing brings solace during these troubling times so it is back to business as usual was an impressive closer who has a linking for the track and trip.

Understandably connections are keen to get their horses racing but the limited opportunities means horses are entered into races where conditions don’t necessarily suit. Six furlongs on the all-weather won’t be to everyone’s favour and Newcastle is a track that takes getting used to.

Tathmeen stands out as the course specialist with five wins to his name; he is a safe bet but actually his form lines lead us to the winner.

Heath Charnock finished 2 lengths behind Tathmeen back in Ferbuary but he can turn the tables. The pair were racing side by side until the final 2f, when Tathmeen’s more immediate turn of foot saw him build a three-length gap in a blink of an eye. However, it is worth noting the winner is much better over 5f but today they race over a furlong further. This suits Heath Charnock, who was actually starting to reel in the winner in the last 100-yards despite not being hard ridden.

The Michael Dods colt is 14lbs better off at the weights, is a regular at Newcastle (with 1 win) and raced well in a better grade late last year. He’s the one to side with.
