It went largely unnoticed at the Southwell midweek card but Arganil made it a remarkable 7/7 at five furlongs on all weather surfaces. Relatively unfancied due to poor recent form he was sent off second favourite but obliged with a power packed finish coming from three lengths off the pace to beat the useful Waveband.
His seven wins have come in the last three all weather seasons and great credit must go to trainer Kevin Ryan who has kept him at the top of his game. Victories include three Listed races and he will be back on Winter Derby Day in the spring to try win the Hever Sprint Stakes for the third year in a row.
When it comes to five furlong sprints on the all weather there is no better horse.
