Pontefract: Venturous
Been in excellent form throughout the winter and a stiff/strongly run 5f plays to his strengths. Should capitalise on a 7lbs lower turf mark.
Venturous has been in fantastic form on the all-weather and can take advantage of a 7lbs lower turf mark to win the 1.30 Pontefract. David Barron’s sprinter has won five times since late October with he best performances coming over a strongly run 5f, which he should get with Caspian Prince in the field.
His wins have been accompanied with big speed ratings, so the victories have been merited. The handicapper is taking the view that the 8-year-old isn’t as good on turf but i’d dispute that, especially when on a sound surface.
