Nunthorpe Tip: Battaash

The best 5f sprinter in Europe but has failed to fire on last two visits to York. It is possible he hates the track but is a sample size of two enough to go on? Worth the risk at the prices.

Since the start of 2018 the only thing to beat Battaash in the UK has been Blue Point and York. With the former now retired to only obstacle in his way is the Knavesmire. Fourth in the last two renewals of this race it is difficult to explain his defeats. The track is the obvious common factor but why wouldn’t he handle a sharp flat track?

The truth is we don’t know why he’s run badly at York and perhaps we are overthinking matters. Put simply he is the best 5f sprinter in the field and do you want to take 2/1+ on him making it third time lucky at the track. I think that is a risk worth taking.
