Nottingham Tips: City Dreamer
Ran well on debut last season in a strong maiden but nothing gone his way since. Badly hampered on seasonal bow at Doncaster.
City Dreamer began his career with a huge amount of promise when finishing 7.75 lengths behind Larchmont Lad at Sandown. It turned out to be a strong maiden, delivering 9 wins (from 30 runs) in a higher grade with the winner running in the 2000 Guineas last weekend.
Unfortunately, City Dreamer hasn’t been one of them. He was unlucky when badly drawn at Salisbury but disappointments on his last two starts of the season led to him being gelded over the winter.
On his return to the track, he was beaten 7.75 lengths at Doncaster but that doesn’t tell half the story. He was travelling strongly in the home-straight, arguably better than the winner but was the meat in the sandwich when trying to challenge and was badly hampered.
In the 8.00 Nottingham, he races in a lower grade off a generous looking mark of 65. He’s had excuses and could win at a big price.
