Newcastle: Judy's Park
Beaten in a head-bob over course and distance when 14lbs 'wrong' at the weights. Pair pulled well clear of third horse; with a good speed rating and sectional. On paper this is easier.
There isn’t much winning form on offer in the 8.15 Newcastle but Judy’s Park deserves to get her head in front. Last time out she ran a stormer only to beaten in a photo by Pepper Streak.
I backed the winner that day and fancied he had plenty in hand so the fact Judy’s Park made a race of it is to her immense credit. The moderate early gallop might not have helped (although she was outpaced early) and her closing sectional was 0.28s quicker than the winner. The pair pulled 4.75 lengths clear of Top Notch Tommy who is not a bad yardstick.
George Boughey’s filly has run her best races at Newcastle and although I think 6f might be her optimum trip, she might simply be able to outclass her rivals.
