Mappin Time Has Better Draw
Clocked a good speed rating when second over course and distance last time, despite racing from a poor draw.
Mappin Time is near the top of his handicap mark but based on his last run over course and distance he can still be competitive in this grade.
Mappin Time finished two lengths behind Meadway but everything that could go wrong – did.
Drawn in stall 10 he was forced to race on what is usually the slowest part of the track but more of a disadvantage was racing away from the pace.
Two furlongs from home he was in a hopeless position, travelling strongly behind a wall of horses on the wrong side of the track. To his immense credit, he fought his way through and clocked the fastest closing sectional to grab second.
He beat the better-drawn Dungannon (today’s favourite) and is 6lbs better off for their rematch. Mappin Time should confirm the places and can win at 3/1 (Bet365).
