Ludlow Tips: Wessex King

This recent winner recorded a good speed rating and is much improved after adopting more positive tactics.

After the thrills of the weekend, we are back down to earth with a bump. With several small National Hunt fields, finding value is tricky. One of the better races is the 2.15 at Ludlow where a recent change of tactics gives us an edge.

Wessex King used to be a hold up performer, but connections tried making the running at Stratford with immediate success. He ran out a 2.75 lengths winner and equalled his career best Topspeed rating in the process. For a class four handicap the field was better than average, with the useful Zorro De La Vega back in fourth, giving the form a solid look.

There is no reason to doubt the time he clocked, the improvement is almost certainly down to the change in tactics. After unlocking extra ability Wessex King looks well handicapped and overpriced at 7/4 with Bet365.
