Lingfield Tips: One Big Surprise
Runner-up on last two starts and although still a maiden would have won by now if various jockeys had timed their runs fractionally better.
One Big Surprise hopefully won’t live up to her name in the 5.15 Lingfield because a victory is long over due – and almost expected!
She first caught the eye when given a moderate ride by a young apprentice at Chelmsford back in February. She was the best horse in the race but found trouble in running having been held-up for too long in rear.
She started her turf campaign of a lowly mark of 54 and has been slightly unfortunate to finish second twice. Last time out she hit the front fractionally too soon in a race run at a strong gallop and didn’t have enough in reserve to fight of the closers.
In defeat she earned an adjusted speed rating of 59, which although nothing special it’s higher than her mark of 58 and should be enough to win a moderate class 6 handicap.
