Lingfield Tip: Suwaan

Travelled strongly at Newcastle in first start in five months. Set a solid gallop and tired near line only to be caught napping by a closer. No excuses this time.

Jack Garritty came in for some criticism regards his ride on Suwaan last time at Newcastle and compensation awaits in the 3.55 Lingfield. Visually it didn’t look great - Suwaan travelled strongly and was the last off the bridle but was caught in the shadow of the post, with Garritty not the most vigorous in the saddle.

When viewing with sectional timings to hand i’m not nearly as critical. They went a solid gallop (finishing speed 99.93% of overall speed) and Pea Shooter came from a fair way back to win, making up 3.7 lengths in two furlongs.

Perhaps Suwaan simply got tired after setting a strong gallop on his first start in five months. Wind surgery over the winter seems to have helped and Suwaan always shaped as a sprinter with ability. This can be his redemption.
