Merhoob came with a barnstorming late run to win over course and distance at the end of December, taking his course record to 2111. The handicapper has only put him up 2lbs for that win and he can go in again.
The early pace was no more than steady for his last win and he showed an excellent turn of foot to cover the final 2f in 21.87s; the fastest closing sectional in the race. His price has held up due to finishing behind Desert Doctor at Wolverhampton but this is a different track and more to his liking.
