Lingfield Tip: Cox Bazar
First start for Ivan Furtado but has loads of early speed and should be well suited to 5f around Lingfield. Has a bit of class and a workable mark.
The 2.20 Lingfield is a cracking midweek sprint but there are several imponderables. Gracious John and Corinthia Knight are the best two horses on official ratings but they have to carry weight as a result and neither is in sparkling form. I think there will be a surprise winner and Cox Bazar fulfils the brief.
This is his first start for Ivan Furtado and he looks an exciting recruit. In France he was all speed, winning 4 of his 9 starts at five furlongs or less. A sharp 5f around Lingfield is therefore ideal and he might take some pegging back from stall 4.
He won a Listed race in 2017, so has a bit of class; he also ran the the Prix de l’Abbaye and a rating of 99 might underestimate his ability.
