Lingfield Tip: Corinthia Knight
Record on the all-weather at 5f is 1111218 and recent poor runs can be attributed to trip and luck in-running. Career-high Racing Post Rating came over C&D in December.
Come 14:06 I could be kicking myself for not taking the 5/2 about Encore D’Or, his chances are rock solid but this race will be about fine margins and I want a bit of a price for the risk.
Corinthia Knight would be half the price if this race were two months ago, he was an impressive 1.5 length winner over course and distance lugging 9-7 in a handicap. However, things have gone wrong since then.
A run of poor results tempers enthusiasm but there have been excuses. He was badly hampered and eased last time out, so that run can be ignored. That followed a poor run at Kempton over 6f but his best form has been at the minimum trip, he is 5/10 at 5f compared to 2/8 over 6f.
If you limit his runs to just 5f on the all-weather, his record is 1111218, with an inexplicably poor run at Wolverhampton. That run niggles at me but i’m willign to overlook one poor performance in favour of the price.
