Lingfield: Saaheq

Profile inconsistent but been running over 6f (0/10) and is 5/19 at the minimum trip. Won last three starts with a handicap in the 70s and winner last time eye-shield and blinkers were fitted.

The market for the 2.20 Lingfield is formed around two last time out winners but both can be opposed at the prices. The outsiders are of much more interest. Verne Castle is overpriced but i’m taking a chances with Saaheq.

The 6-year-old is capable of some high quality performances but his form is inconsistent. He’s shown precious little on his last two starts (posted wide and never travelling at Kempton) but you can find excuses because he is 0/10 at 6f but 5/19 at 5f; the trip he tackles today.

Another reasons for optimism is his declining handicap mark. He races off 77 this afternoon and his record racing over the minimum trip with a mark in the seventies is 111. Three starts back he clocked a good speed rating, 76, when third in a strong class 3 handicap at Kempton. He also races in eye-shield and blinkers for the first time since the 16 October 2019. The result that day was a win.
