Lay of the Day: Whitecrest

You can rule out horses that need cut in the ground because the going at Windsor is quick.

This warm, sunny spell should make punting at little easier as we get fast ground and consistent going descriptions. Windsor has been known to overwater but that doesn’t look like the case this evening.

The official going is ‘good to firm’ and the GoingStick reading of 9.3 backs this up. Since 2007 this is the joint-third highest reading ever recorded at Windsor, from an archive of 160 races.

Suffice to say the going is quick and that won’t suit Whitecrest in the 7.30. Her last three wins have come on good to soft, good, and heavy going. She was badly outpaced at Salisbury two starts back on fast ground and on this sharp track she might never get into the race.
