Pour Moi Sadly Retired

With Pour Moi retired through injury the market is wide open, with question marks hanging over all the main contenders.

Sarafina is 4/1 clear favourite with most bookmakers for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe after Pour Moi was retired on Saturday. Only Totesport and Betfred disagree, making Workforce and Sarafina joint 9/2 favourites for the race.

With less than two months to go, there are weaknesses in all the main contenders:

Sarafina – Best Price 9/2 with Betfred
Unlucky third in the Arc last year, she has been kept in training for a shot at redemption in the race. Hasn’t beaten any real top class horses in her wins this year.

Workforce - Best Price 5/1 with Coral
Reigning champion but has had a frustrating 2011. Ran a good race in the Eclipse but then suffered another disappointing defeat in the King George at Ascot. Injury the excuse but seemingly has it all to prove again.

So You Think - Best Price 5/1 with Coral
Excellent Eclipse winner but all his best form over 1m2f, extra two furlongs for the Arc a concern.

Nathaniel - Best Price 6/1 with Paddy Power
Won a King George that everyone wants to forget and it is hard to weigh up the form of that terrible race. Handles cut in the ground, which should be in his favour.

There are several of the French contingent that will all arrive with their chances, the likes of Galikova at 12/1 cannot be ruled out. With time running out, the picture is unlikely to be any clearer come the Sunday at Longchamp.
