Kempton: War In Heaven

Everything went wrong last time and he still won. A mark of 78 seriously underestimates his ability; he covered the final 2f at Lingfield in 20.99s. This a better race but 7f could be ideal.

When everything goes wrong in a race and your horse still wins - that’s good news because it suggests it’s either a superstar or has a tonne in-hand at the weights. War In Heaven might have have both. I was very sweet on his chances when tipping him up in February and that watched aghast as he fell out the stalls and was in completely the wrong position for a steadily run contest.

To my relief he straightened himself out to cover the final 2f in a rapid 20.99s and just get up on the line. The handicapper has put him up 3lbs for that win but a mark of 78 seriously underestimates his ability. He can look a little awkward so I think the 3f straight at Kempton will help him build momentum as will the extra furlong. This is a better race but he’s too well-handicapped to ignore.
