The Mighty Gurkha has a tremendous record on the all-weather and is 2/2 over course and distance. His career record on an artificial surface reads 11212 yet somehow the handicapper has dropped him to a mark of 95 and let him sneak into a class 3 handicap.
That leniency is largely down to some moderate turf form but he’s been competing in Listed/Group races and simply isn’t as good on turf.
Hollie Doyle will want to get to the front from stall 8 but there is nothing on her outside to box her in and with the non-runner only has six horses on her inside. It’s not impossible she gets as soft lead and Mighty Gurkha could prove hard to pass.
