Confessional could hardly be called prolific but he is an admirable veteran who retains plenty of ability. He ran a fine race at Chester, ultimately paying for setting an overly strong pace but earning a highly respectable adjusted speed rating of 88. Nothing much happened at Thirsk last time out but back on heavy ground he could show up again.
He won in almost identical conditions last October and he is only 1lbs higher, with seemingly no degradation to his form despite the advancing years. Confessional’s record in handicaps on ground described as ‘heavy’ is 53431 and he should go well again at a track he likes.
