Grands Crus Set For Tough Chase Debut

Grands Crus, the 8-1 favourite with Boylesports for the RSA Chase, faces a tough field on his chasing debut at Cheltenham tomorrow.

Cheltenham have saved the best for last with a high quality Novices’ chase closing the card at 4.05.

Grands Crus is 2/1 (Bet365) to win on his chasing debut. Runner-up in the World Hurdle, chasing is an obvious route to explore and a good way to avoid Big Buck’s. At the current odds he looks poor value going into the unknown against a strong line up.

Cue Card already has some chasing experience, with a comfortable debut win at Chepstow and at 6/4 (Bet365) is a more reliable betting prospect.

With the betting focused on the top class hurdling recruits, Champion Court at (7/1 with Ladbrokes) looks overpriced. A smart hurdler, he was a Grade 2 winner, he looks much better suited to chasing. After unseating on his debut he restored his reputation with a facile win at Aintree. He is still prone to the odd mistake but he recorded a good speed rating last time out.

With the front two in the market, you are backing on potential, but with Champion Court there is already a decent level of chase form in the book.
