Grand National Tips: Treacle
Has endless reserves of stamina but also some classy form to his name; finished third in last year’s Irish Hennessy.
Last year things didn’t go to plan for Treacle, he fell at the 10th fence having been hampered earlier in the race. Aged 12, time is running out and this is realistically his last chance to win the Grand National.
His preparations seem to have gone well. He showed bottomless reserves of stamina to win his last start at Down Royal and arrives fresh, having raced only twice since last year’s Grand National.
Last season he finished third in the Irish Hennessy and second in the valuable Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown to prove that he has that bit of class needed to win a race like the Grand National.
If he enjoys a trouble free round, he should be finishing strongly and at 40/1 (BetVictor) he looks a lively each-way contender with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
