Grand National Tips: Across The Bay

Won three of his five starts this season and has looked most progressive. Thrashed fellow National hopeful Cappa Bleu by 28-lengths in November.

Across The Bay looks a most progressive chaser and I don’t think the handicapper has caught up with him yet. His record this season is 11271 with his only poor performance coming at Chepstow when Jason Maguire reported a problem with his breathing.

He had a wind operation soon after and bounced back to form with victory in a Grade 2 hurdle contest at Haydock, a surprise considering his forte is jumping the bigger obstacles. His only other defeat came at Aintree in a hot Listed race where he split the talented pair of Wayward Prince and Quite De La Roque.

The key piece of form is his victory at Carlisle. He thrashed Cappa Bleu by 28-lengths that day and although he’s gone up in the weights since, there is no logical reason he should be four times the price of a horse he beat comfortably.

Across The Bay looks cracking value at 40/1 (BetVictor).

With several bookmakers offering the same odds I recommend backing him each-way with BetVictor . They are the only bookmaker paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
