Grand National Weights Revealed

Grand National weights revealed

Synchronised has been handed a top weight of 11st 10lb with antepost favourite Junior allotted 11st 2lb.

The Grand National weights were released on Tuesday with the BHA’s head of handicapping, Phil Smith, believing it is one of the strongest renewals of the race.

Synchronised tops the weights at 11st 10lb a move that has seen him drift in the betting to 22/1 with Stan James. Defending champion Ballabriggs will have to carry 9lbs more than when victorious in 2011; he is 16/1 (BetVictor) to win with 11st 9lb on his back.

Antepost favourite Junior remains largely unchanged at 14/1 (Boylesports) with 11st 2lb to carry.

The big mover in the market is Treacle backed from 40/1 to a best price 22/1 with Sportingbet. Allotted 10st 8lb, he is 38th in the handicap meaning he is almost certain to make the cut for the race. A maximum of 40 runners are allowed to line-up at Aintree.
