Goodwood Tips: Outstrip

The 3.40 Goodwood is a big race for Charlie Appleby as he saddles his first runner at a festival. A long-serving member of the Godolphin operation he’s taken over from disgraced trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni and finds himself in the spotlight.

I have no doubt he wants to hit the ground running and it is interesting to see one of his best two-year-olds lining up for the Vintage Stakes (3.40 Goodwood).

Outstrip is highly thought of at home and he lived up to his reputation when taking a strong Newmarket maiden last month. He finished 1.5 lengths ahead of fellow Godolphin runner True Story, who franked the form by winning his next start by 3.75 lengths.

Having only his second run I’m sure there is more to come and he looks overpriced at 11/2 (Paddy Power).
