Goodwood Tips: Magic Secret

Best with cut in the ground and should improve now that he settles better in his races.

The official going is described as ‘soft’ for the 4.50 Goodwood and that has a huge bearing on the selection process.

Magic Secret has shown his best form with cut in the ground and having only his 5th start, he has the potential to be quite a useful sprinter.

On his seasonal reappearance he was unlucky to lose by a short-head at Windsor. He looked quite headstrong as he made most of the running that day, probably doing too much in the lead.

On his subsequent start at Haydock, he was ridden with more restraint, conserving much more of his energy. Unfortunately, he encountered terrible traffic problems and never got a run.

Upped in class at Ascot he seemed to find the pace a little hot, therefore I’m happy to see him dropped in grade and racing on a slower surface.  He is a horse with bags of potential and with his favoured conditions he might just be too good at 5/1 (William Hill).
