Goodwood Tip: Duke Of Firenze
Got plenty of pace to aim at and the fire has been taken out of the ground with recent rain. Ran well at Newmarket (fastest closer) in race not suited to hold up tactics.
The 4.45 Goodwood should be fast and furious and there could be a pace bias given where the speed horses line-up. A Momentofmadness, El Astonaute and Just An Idea are berthed ins stalls 10, 12, and 13 and the horse in the middle could benefit the most.
Duke Of Firenze needs a strong gallop to aim at and he should get the perfect tow into the race from stall 11. The rain earlier in the week is also in his favour as that has just slowed the ground down enough to be officially rated good, he is 4/20 under such conditions.
Last time out Midsummer Knight was given a perfect front-running ride but Duke Of Firenze ran the fastest closing sectional in a losing cause, that signalled his well-begin and he was dropped 2lbs for that good performance.
A previous course and distance winner, Duke Of Firenze has never be beaten more than 5.5 lengths at the track (from 5 visits) and that includes runs in the King George and Stewards’ Cup.
