Goodwood Races Tip: Sherjawy

He is the only horse that can race off the pace; the furious gallop should set it up for him. Double the odds he should be.

For a six runner race, the 5.30 at Goodwood has enormous amounts of pace. The top four in the betting all like to make the running and there is a danger they will ruin each other’s chances by racing too fast.

Of the hold up performers, Commandingpresence can be ruled out as she is still a maiden after 46 attempts. This leaves Sherjawy as the only serious prospect and he is overpriced at 12/1.

Victorious in 11 of his 86 starts he knows were the winning post is and at this level it can be crucial. Twice a winner at five furlongs over the winter, he is at his best when the pace collapses in front, as could happen here. He also has winning form at Goodwood which proves he can handle the track.

This is his level, he is fit and in form and he is more than double the price he should be.
