Goodwood: Adeb
Much improved since being gelded, winning a Beverley maiden in a fast time. Handicap mark of 83 looks generous having clocked a sectional adjusted speed rating of 84.
Adeb shaped with promise early in his career but he looks a much improved horse since being gelded. He produced a power packed finish to win his maiden at Beverley and the time of the race was good. Adjusted for sectionals I gave him a speed rating of 84, yet he makes his handicap debut off a mark of 83.
The way he finished the race suggests a step-up to 6f should be no bother and if the ground reminds tacky, it’s unlucky to inconvenience him as much as more speedy types. The big danger is Tropez Power but split stakes isn’t a bad option if you need a safety net.
