Frankel The Super Horse

After his demolition job in the 2000 Guineas where next for Henry Cecil’s brilliant colt?

The Newmarket crowd were treated to one of the most exhilarating performances of the modern era when Frankel stormed to a sixth length win in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday. Such was the magnitude of the performance that he earned the highest Racing Post rating ever given for a 2000 Guineas winner. The service began in 1988 and eclipsed the previous best awarded to King’s Best in 2000. Paddypower are offering odds of 2/3 that Frankel ends the flat season with an official rating higher than Sea The Stars.

Frankel winning the 2000 Guineas

Next stop for Frankel is likely to be the St. James’s Palace at Royal Ascot after Henry Cecil ruled out the Derby. Speaking to the Daily Mail he said, “I think the Derby would not be doing the right thing. I’d want to give him a race before Epsom over a bit further but I can’t do that. Frankel is very well, but we will take it step by step.”

It remains to be seen if he steps up in trip as the season progresses, with Blue Square quoting Frankel at 7/1 for the Arc in October.
