Folkestone Tips: Danzoe

Handles soft conditions, will enjoy the strong gallop and has bagged the plum draw.

It is a shame the weather has decimated the field in the 2.00 Folkestone but one thing it hasn’t done is dislodge Danzoe from the plum stand’s rail draw.

The sprint track at Folkestone has long favoured horses drawn high, as the stand’s rail seems to be the quickest part of the track. If you are drawn more than five off the rail, your chances of victory are slim.

Unfortunately, the non-runners have brought Novabridge and Spic ‘N’ Span into the equation as their previously bad draws are now much better. Both like to front-run and with Whiskey Junction also in the mix there is a chance that all three could go too quick.

In testing conditions, the race should set-up for a closer and that brings Danzoe into contention.

On his last start at Kempton, he never got into the race as the gallop was only moderate. The early leaders stayed at the front for pretty much the whole contest.

However, he has shown snippets of good form recently. He finished third at Lingfield when hampered and finished second in soft ground at Epsom in July. A repeat of that performance would give him a good chance as he drops down two levels into this class 6 contest.

Tracking a strong pace, from the best draw, is ideal for Danzoe, and he looks overpriced at 6/1 with William Hill.
