Epsom: Self Praise
Finished ahead of Blatant from a worse draw at Chester and now in receipt of weight. Well drawn, should improve for the step up in trip and looks one of the likelier types in weak renewal.
The Woodcote (2.30 Epsom) on paper looks no better than a novices’ race and there could be some big prices in the shake up. Kessaar Power is one I wouldn’t rule out at a massive price but the most solid selection is Self Praise.
On speed figures Blatant is the strongest horse in the race but he has a penalty to carry and was beaten by Self Praise at Chester. Given that Hugo Palmer’s colt had a wide draw and worse trip to contend with there is a strong chance he confirms the form with Blatant.
On pedigree this horse should improve for the step up in trip and from a decent draw, should go well.
