Diamond Jubilee Stakes: The Tin Man

Big price for a horse defending his title. Warmed up in low key fashion at Windsor but the clock tells a different story. Fast closing sectional helped him earn a 110 speed rating.

Despite being a multiple Group 1 winner it’s taken me time to warm to The Tin Man but he finally won me over at Windsor of all places. A drift in the market suggested he might not be fully wound up on his seasonal return but he won in good fashion, beating the useful D’bai by 0.75 lengths.

It might only have been a Listed contest but adjusting for pace I gave him a speed rating of 110 and his final 3f split of 36.82 is the second fastest recorded at Windsor this season (from 632 runners).

On going rated good to firm his record is 6111181, with the first defeat excusable because it was his racecourse debut. Given his record at Ascot i’m surprised he is a double figure price.
