Darwin the Natural Choice

Down to a winning mark again the two month break will have freshened him up nicely.

Recently the pace at Lingfield has been holding up more than usual and i’ve focused my attention on horses that race prominently in the 2.25 at Lingfield.

At double figure odds in a small field Charles Darwin gets my attention. This is his grade now and he has been knocking around this level with a reasonable amount of success for a couple of years. His last run was at the end of November but that can be ignored as he was forced to race three wide in a slowly run race and never in a position to strike. Before that he finished a half-length fifth behind two subsequent winners and ran to the sort of level needed to win this type of race.

He is back after a two month break that should have freshened him up nicely and it is interesting to note it’s jockey Steve Drowne’s only ride at Lingfield today before he goes for a good book of rides this evening at Kempton.
