Chester Tips: Smart Daisy K

Finished third three times at Chester but has ideal conditions for the first time.

The going at Chester is described as ‘good’ but the GoingStick reading of 6.9 suggests there is plenty of juice in the ground and even with a drying day I think it will ride on the softer side of good.

That could be crucial for the likes of Doctor Parkers, Al’s Memory and Captain Dunne, all of whom run in the 2.20 contest and need good to firm ground.

Smart Daisy K is much more adaptable having run well on all surfaces and equally importantly she goes well at Chester. She’s finished third on each start at the track but could have won under different circumstances.

Smart Daisy K Chester Record

8 June 2013: Beaten 3.5 lengths
Expended unnecessary energy when breaking loose before the race. Poorly drawn in stall 10.

12 July 2013: Beaten 3.25 lengths
Pulled very hard due to the slow early pace and had little left at the finish. Winner a very useful sprinter, won Listed contest on next start.

17 August 2013: Beaten 0.5 lengths
First attempt at 6f and tried to make all (after pulling too hard last time). Looked the likely winner but tired badly in the last 100 yards.

On her last three Chester starts she’s had excuses but they should melt away.

This afternoon she races over 5f110y which means her stamina should last out, she is reasonably draw in stall 7 and there is plenty of pace which will help her relax during the race.
