Chester Tips: Hitchens
Has his favoured ground and the ability to win so long as Chester avoids any further rain.
We’ve not seen much of Hitchens this season but he’s just never got his ground. The going in the 3.05 Chester is described as good to firm, good in places and that should be fine. Outside of Group 1 races, Hitchens’s 6f record on ground good to firm or firmer is: 1110610711.
Several of his opponents like Night Carnation and Inxile are 5f specialists trying to sneak a weak listed win over further, whilst his biggest rival Van Ellis is poorly drawn for a front-runner in stall 9.
Hitchens has the class and his conditions; the only thing stopping him being a two-point tip is the weather forecast. Any significant rain would compromise his chancse but at 9/2 (BetVictor) he is the value in the race.
