Chester Tips: Roker Park
Always needs a couple of runs each season to get him race fit. Former course and distance winner and well drawn.
David O’Meara holds all the aces in the 2.45 Chester with his two horses occupying the best stalls. A low draw is imperative at the track and Roker Park is well berthed in stall 2.
A previous course and distance winner, the track seems to bring out the best in the 8-year-old and the way he stayed on to finish fifth on his last start, suggests he is coming to hand.
Roker Park’s RPR first three starts of the season
2008: 21-75-91
2009: 28-77-96
2010: 67-61-(61*)-81
2011: 65-92-84
2012: 68-86-86
2013: 33-73-?
*mitigating circumstances because of poor draw.
As you can see from the progression in his ratings, Roker Park is the type of horse who needs a couple of runs each season to blow away the cobwebs.
Chester will be his third start of the year and if he follows his usual pattern we can expect a big run from a favourable draw.
